Dixie's story

Built by a son.
Inspired by his mom.

Raised on a cattle ranch in southeastern Montana, Dixie learned early what it means to work hard, treat people right, and never give up. At 11 years old, she lost her leg to bone cancer. She didn't let that stop her — she raised two kids largely on her own and worked 20+ years for the federal government.

When health challenges forced her to leave her career, she moved to Colorado to be near her son Michael and his grandsons. That's when she discovered just how broken the system really was. Disability resources, grants, housing assistance — they weren't missing. They were just hidden. A big secret, not out where everybody can see them.

Her son Michael watched her navigate this exhausting, fragmented maze — and together, they decided to build the resource she never had. Her grandsons have always called her "DD". The app is called Dixie's Door. That wasn't planned. That was meant to be.
